Vir: www.italy-news.netTomorrow at 7pm the gas distributors' strike will start, opposing the deregulation bill passed by Minister Bersani and approved by Cabinet on January 25. For 48 hours, from 7pm tomorrow until 7pm on Friday, February 9, gas distributors will remain closed, but Sicily will anticipate the closure by 24 hours, at 7pm today. On motorways the strike will begin at 10pm tomorrow and will end at 10pm on Thursday, Feb 8. In a joint statement the unions, Faib/Aisa, Fegica, Figisc/Anisa, pointed the finger against minister Bersani, pointing out that "he misses no opportunity to confirm his unavailability to meet and favours supermarkets ahead of the category and the large majority of consumers." Unions asked for "direct" action of the PM without whom "it appears increasingly difficult to organise a summit." "Sueprmarkets, already today sells petrol bought from oil companies with over 150 euros every thousand litres less than the recommended price; while distributors only sell it at 35 euros less. This is the real injury to competition, but on this matter Bersani, clamped between the oil company and supermarket lobbies, does not have the bravery to act." Despite the strike, Faib/Aisa, Fegica, Figisc/Anisa still guarantee the minimal and emergency services both in cities and motorways.
